OneDrive Troubleshooting
Ensure the OneDrive App is Open and You Are Signed-In
Make sure you are logged in to your OneDrive application on your computer. Often times OneDrive may not be syncing your files because you have been logged-off from the OneDrive app or the OneDrive app was closed and needs to be re-opened. You know you are logged in and connected to OneDrive if you can see the blue-cloud icon on the bottom-right of your taskbar. You may need to click on the up-arrow in the bottom-right area of your taskbar if you do not see the OneDrive icon there.
If you do not see the OneDrive icon (blue cloud) you will need to re-open the OneDrive application. Click on the Start button on the bottom-left of your taskbar then scroll down until you find 'OneDrive' then click on it to launch OneDrive.
You will be prompted to sign-in using your Office 365 login credentials and once you have successfully signed in, you will see the OneDrive blue-cloud icon in your taskbar.
If the OneDrive cloud icon is a different colour (grey) you will need to click on the OneDrive icon then click on 'Sign-in'. Sign-in using your Office 365 login credentials then once successfully logged in, the OneDrive icon will turn to a blue colour.
Check For Any Sync Issues WIthin the App Itself
If you are already logged into OneDrive you may see the OneDrive icon with two different icons:
If you see the first icon (with the spinning wheel) this means that OneDrive is syncing changes. If you click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar, you may see it say that it is "Processing Changes" but no files appear.
To troubleshoot this, pause the sync then resume it:
- Right-click the OneDrive icon then click on the 'Pause Syncing' option.
- You will now see the options to Pause the syncing for 2, 8 and 24 hours. Click on any of these options to pause the OneDrive sync.
- Right-click the OneDrive icon again then click on 'Resume syncing'.
- OneDrive will attempt to sync your files again and it may take a few minutes for OneDrive to process the changes. You should start to see files that it is trying to sync now if you click on the OneDrive icon again.
If you see the second icon this means that there is a sync issue with your OneDrive. In most cases, OneDrive will let you know that there is a sync issue and clicking on the error message will let you know which file(s) have the sync issue and how to resolve it.
