Black Screen With Windows Logo
Issue
Your laptop is stuck on a black screen with a Windows logo usually with a spinning circle on the bottom.
Solution
Follow these steps to resolve this issue and get back on your computer:
- Force restart your computer until you see the that it is attempting startup repair. To force restart your computer hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Then press the power button to turn it back on.
- Repeat step one until you see the following screen then click on Advanced options.
- Then click on Troubleshoot.
- Then click Advanced options
- On the Advanced options screen click Startup Settings
- On the Startup Settings screen click Restart
- On the Startup Settings screen press 6 on your keyboard.
- You will see your computer start to undo the last update and reboot. It should bring you to the login screen when it finishes. At this point you should reboot one more time and then log in otherwise it will log you into the command prompt mode.
- If the steps above did not help go through all the steps again, but this time once you reach the login screen log into your user account and you should be at the command prompt screen. Once in the command prompt screen type in the command: “sfc /scannow” (don’t type in the quotation marks) then once the scan completes reboot the computer once more.
